Is your roof ready for spring?

The snow is melting, and spring is on its way! It’s easy to get wrapped up in the warm weather, but don’t wait to check your roof!

The winter months can do a number of things to your roof, with damage ranging from minor to major. It’s important to check your roof for any type of damage as everything starts to defrost, so you can focus on the important things ahead…summer!

Read on for some helpful reminders on what to look out on your roof during the transitioning seasons.

Take a Look Around

Probably the most important step to take, visually assessing your roof can help point out any major damages that may have occurred, but also the smaller issues that may grow in the future. Removing any major debris and keeping the surface area clear will make all the difference in keeping the integrity of your roof sound.

Pay special attention to your shingles, and further inspect any that seem to be damaged in any way. Whether they are curled, cracked, peeling, or otherwise, this may be a sign of a larger problem.

Trim Your Trees

With the weather warming up, we know that yard work is on the horizon, and maintaining any trees around your home is just as important! Keeping tree branches from hanging over your roof can help prevent future damage, as well as help with keeping your roof clear from fallen sticks, leaves, or other debris.

Check Your Gutters

Just as with the winter, it’s very important to prepare your gutters for the upcoming season. Clean out your gutters, making sure they’re free from any debris or blockages. Check for any damages, either internal or external. Your gutters are hugely important to the structure of your roof overall, and keeping them free and clear of damage is an easy step to take in keeping your roof over your head.
